Police arrested a suspect in the murder of rapper Takeoff, of the group Migos, in Houston

A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the slaying of rapper Takeoff, Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner announced Friday at a news conference.

Finner said 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested on the east side of Houston, Texas, late Thursday night. Another man, Cameron Joshua, 22, was charged with illegal possession of weapons.

Takeoff, a member of the hip-hop trio Migos, was shot dead during a dispute outside a private party on November 1. Authorities said at the time, Takeoff, 28, was found dead at the scene when officers arrived at 810 Billiards and Bowling in downtown. They also noted that “at least two” weapons were fired in the incident.

“There was an incident that happened after the party was over,” said Sgt. Michael Arrington. “There was a large group of people that had gathered in the front gate area, just outside the building,” he added.

“We lost a good man,” Finner said Friday. He also added that he spoke with Takeoff’s family and thanked them for his patience as the department reviewed the facts and the investigation before making an arrest.
